What’s that button over there for?

As I wrote over on my blog, we are now hosting our own blogs, mainly so we could offer hosting for our church. We’d love to host your blog or your personal or church web site! And we’ve added the Amazon Honor System button to the right of the page, so if you’d like to [...]

To all the Banksons, Check out my flickr account for all the family viewing. Follow this link to see the pictures. I have all the pictures marked for private (friends and family only) viewing. So to see them you will need your own account. IT IS FREE. If you already have a yahoo account then you are already a flickr member. Of course, if you have flickr, you know about flickr and need to add me as a contact and then I’ll add you back. If you have an obscure sign in/user name, then be sure to tell me who you are so I’ll know to add you back and not deny you.

Here’s a few pics I uploaded to flickr.
This is one from Thanksgiving (yesterday)
tday dinner

and one from this summer’s reunion
bertha and harry

Now over at flickr, you can makes notes on the pictures and add comments below them as well. If you have any questions on how to do this or run into any trouble or confusion, call John or I and we’ll talk you through it. OH, or you could just ask or chat via WLM (Windows Live Messenger).

Lasagna & Baked Beans Please

General | Comments (0)

Connie, I desperately need your lasagna recipe.  Do you share it?  If you do would you post to the forum under Recipes, please.

Bertha, I am also desperate for Bertha’s Baked Beans.  Do you think you could go post your beans for us as well?  I usually don’t like baked beans, but yours - I got seconds!

Forums: the new eGroup

Uncategorized | Comments (0)

Remember eGroups?  We set up a family eGroup years ago.  Actually I think when we set it up it was called Onelist, then it became eGroups later.  After that, it was swallowed up by Yahoo and became YahooGroups.

Well, that kind of fizzled, probably because our E-mail inboxes are so full of SPAM all the time, it’s just tiring to try to weed through it all.

Enter forums.  With an internet forum, you can go to the topics that interest you, post an entry, reply to an entry, read a “thread” of comments, whatever you want, all in one place.  And you don’t have to read 15 different E-mails.

But if this is going to work, we need you all to register.  Just click on “register” at the bottom of the page and follow the easy directions.  If you were on GRANNYnet, we want you on the Banksonfamily.com forums!

Just trying this out

Hi Bankson family!  I have never blogged before, so I thought I’d get on here and see if I could.  Andrew is at RYM this week - Brian Habig is the speaker.  We’ve only talked to him when we call him, so I guess he’s having a good time!  How are things in LA?  Our homeschooling books are beginning to arrive - yikes!  It’s exciting and sobering (ie the summer’s almost over… we start on Aug. 6).   Well, I guess that’s enough for my first try.  TTFN

A few things of which to take note

General | Comments (0)

  • If you need help registering, here’s a bit of a how-to on how to do it.
  • For the Web-savvy, did you know I verified our RSS feeds? Here’s the Entries RSS. The link is also at the bottom of the sidebar. You should be able to get this feed in any Feed reader or news aggregator you use.
  • I also stayed up very late last night working on added a forum for us. This could be a great way for everyone to stay in everybody else’s business touch. I’ve put a permanent link to the Forum in the Menu at the top of the page. Check it out. I’ve set up two basic forums for each of the immediate families making one public and one private. So, if you want to make an announcement or share something that you want only family members to see then you can enter that info in the Private Forum (clearly labeled) and it will only be seen by those who are members of that forum. As a matter of fact, the Private Forums are not even visible unless you are logged in. Try it. Look around. Register. Login. Look around again. Once Registered you’ll see things that were not there before.
  • If you have registered on the blog, you will not need to register on the forum. If you are logged in on one, you are automatically logged in to the other.
  • Your friends are welcome to the forum if you want to let them know about it.
